Baby want BRAINS

The Zombie craze is never ending and I can't help but think that the children's market is being neglected :) Here is my addition to the cause, a little hungry zombie baby.

Cover Up

Here are a few of my latest covers solicited this month. Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #56 and X-Babies #1.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you all that little bit of news. I'll be doing the covers for the X-Babies mini series which I think is a blast. I've always loved when I got to see artist like Arthur Adams draw them, and now I get my turn. Fun stuff.

Black & White ideas

While I'm waiting on prices for my 300 page monster, I've already decided what my next book will be and have started pieces for it.

Everyday I will do a quick sketch on 8.5x11 with pen or brush, or both only. No pencil, so set up, no real plan. I'll draw what comes out. Some will work, some won't, but you'll get to see them all. The only tweaking I will do is add tones digitally to add a little depth to the work. I'm going to try to keep each sketch to about 30 mins.

Here is the first experiment done with brush and digital tones.

I announced my new book JUNK awhile back and then there was silence. I've been working on getting the price down a bit and I'm fairly close so here is a little info.

It's been awhile since I put out my first full color sketchbook, B-Sides (which will be available on a limited basis again soon). During my time off everyone has joined the club and released their volumes of hardcover, color sketchbooks. Everyone I know has a great 48 pager for me to pick up and drool over so I started thinking about my next release. Do I just jump in line and put together 48 pages of art? Now come on, you know that is not me.

JUNK. That's the name of my new book and it's a beast. 300 pages of all of my... JUNK. It's sketches, doodles, process on pages and covers, and much more. It's really a little of it all. I'm not going to call it a sketchbook because that term is getting tossed around a lot. This is a collection of my art and it ranges from the loosest of the loose to the nice shiny finishes of a final piece. You'll get it all in the book.

I'm working out the printing details now so I don't have a solid date but it will be sometime this fall. Even with a page count that will break your wrists, I'm trying to keep the price at $60. You don't get much more bargain than that.

So, start saving and keep an eye out here for more details to be updated soon.

Thanks everyone!

Go BIG or Go Home

I f'n love the 90's era of comics. People can rag on them all they want but with out the 90's and guys like Rob Leifeld, Greg Capullo, Todd McFarlane, Sam Keith, and the rest of the guys blazing new trails back then, I wouldn't be drawing comics today. Things may change but the roots are always there.

Deadpool was a great character from the 90's that has remained just as popular today. I think that the humor injected in this character helps that a lot and that's what I wanted to inject here. Amazing Spider-Man #611 written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Eric Canete will be sporting a cover by yours truly. Deadpool still rocks all the pockets and crazy weapons people pretend to make fun of today, but yet on him it's still cool. So I wanted to show Deadpool giving his blessing to Spidey for going a little bigger and badder with his look.

My homage to the beginnings of my comic book reading days. Thanks for the inspiration gentlemen!
