Go BIG or Go Home

I f'n love the 90's era of comics. People can rag on them all they want but with out the 90's and guys like Rob Leifeld, Greg Capullo, Todd McFarlane, Sam Keith, and the rest of the guys blazing new trails back then, I wouldn't be drawing comics today. Things may change but the roots are always there.

Deadpool was a great character from the 90's that has remained just as popular today. I think that the humor injected in this character helps that a lot and that's what I wanted to inject here. Amazing Spider-Man #611 written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Eric Canete will be sporting a cover by yours truly. Deadpool still rocks all the pockets and crazy weapons people pretend to make fun of today, but yet on him it's still cool. So I wanted to show Deadpool giving his blessing to Spidey for going a little bigger and badder with his look.

My homage to the beginnings of my comic book reading days. Thanks for the inspiration gentlemen!

Great Cover! And I agree completely with what you said about the 90's. If it wasn't for Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, and Rob Liefeld I wouldn't be an artist today.

90's comic fed kid here. Definitely made their mark. Spidey torment still give me chills to this day. McFarlane's attack was just boggling.

Also, I'd like to add your approach to covers is very distinct. So many covers of heroes in that JUMP! or FALL! or FIGHT! pose, it gets really old.

You're not afraid to have them in a bit of conversation, and that's wicked cool.

Yyees! Deadpool rules! You should do an entire issue of him ! There is so much you could do with this character and your style, would be really crazy!! :)

The 90's rocked, always will, such amazing artwork! This image is awesome. Also, great to hear Eric Canete is doing more comics!

If I wasn't already picking this up because JOE KELLY IS WRITING DEADPOOL AGAIN, even if for one issue, this cover would so convince me to buy it. Amazing work.

This is just stunningly hysterical. Marvel absolutely needs to make a poster of this. I'd buy that in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for sharing.

I grew up in the 90's and hated it, but that's an amazing cover.

What a great homage to the fun aspects of the era. I must agree with you that despite the draw backs, those were also my formidable years. I still have a lot of love for the names you mentioned.

hello mr. young! I would like to politely beg you to email marvel comics and get them to let you draw ultimate comic spider-man instead of that one guy because you draw the meanest spider-man since immonen (never forget!) Seriously though, you are awesome.

Dude that is just freaking sweet.I'm with you on the whole child of the 90's. For me it was Cable. Scarred up glowing eye, and ginormous guns. sorry awesome work dude really.

Hey Skottie -

I just posted a Sam and Twitch over on my blog, and with all your talk of the glory of 90s comics, I thought that the two cops who helped out Spawn would fit. Thought you might like to take another trip down 90s memory freshness name

peace!
